Today, owner Cees Visser and dressage rider Edward Gal, together announced that Totilas has been sold to the international horse dealer Paul Schockemohle (Germany).
The phenomenal dressage stallion has continuously been in the international spotlight. And after his huge success at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky (three gold medals), they have decided to let Totilas go.
” With mixed feelings we release this news today. We would rather wait until everything is finalized with the sale, but the buyer announced the news today and we didn’t want to stay behind him. The past two years for us have been a huge joy and rush for us and Edward Gal. It proved impossible for us to refuse the offer made for Totilas after Kentucky. Therefore we decided to let the living legend go.
The World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, both emotionally and sporting were an absolute highlight. For us this decision was not easy but after all our highlights and three gold medals in Kentucky, you should not defy the luck. We therefore believe this is the right time to sell.” said Cees Visser.
“For me this is very unreal that Moorlands Totilas is leaving. From the first moment I rode him, I knew he was a ‘once in a lifetime horse’. Of course I knew there was continued interest, but didn’t realise it would go this fast. Although I am sad, I understand the decision of Moorland.” Said Edward Gal.
“For Edward this is not easy. Thanks to his talent and dedication Totilas became a phenomenon. When we brought Totilas to Edward, we could never suspect that is would be the perfect combination.
Together they have made a new dimension to the dressage world. They were the the first to score a score above 90%! We have in the past invested in talented horses for the future and will definitely continue to do so. Edward remains a top rider for us and in the coming year we will continue to provide potential top horses to him.” Said Cees Visser.
